Tandoori and Royal Enfield. Spirituality and web 2.0
A brief history of thinkDRY
It is 13.30 on 3 January 2007 before the Chhatrapati
Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai. Vincent Sphene comes first set
foot on Indian soil. It's hot, smells are powerful, noisy streets. But
where is Marseille? But what is he doing here? It is not yet arrived at
his hotel a lot of questions flooded his mind.
After a few days, he decided to take stock. I can go register in an ashram, spend time and follow the teachings of Guru ... it will be long and hard. I do not know what I find. I'm afraid. I can also invest my money, build a structure that develops web applications in PHP with an army of developers who travailleron Indians 24 / 7 in case of a poultry house (commonly known as Open Space in the West) noisy controlled iron hand by authoritarian foremen (or project manager in the West). I have the shivers just thinking about it. The country he has nothing else to offer? So many cultures, so much history, so clever ...
A month later, he puts his bags in Pune. Smaller and more livable than Bombay and his 20 million (officiels. ..) people. He will encounter Anup, Nitin, Navodaya, Sachin, Mickaël and others which will enable him to find the answer, the purpose of his journey lay a stone in the common effort to insufler in mind machine, Turing's dream, or how to combine spirituality and Web 2.0. Specifically, it will undertake the realization of a dream student: developing an ultra-flexible tool that deploys web applications by snapping fingers (or a few clicks as they say in the West). Dream that led him to do research in cognitive science. Dream which he thought for over 10 years and he shares with Sylvain Bonfils.
It is noon May 11, 2007 at the
Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai. Sylvain Bonfils
comes first set foot on Indian soil. It is hot and moist, smells remind
her of Latin America and the horns do smile. He joins his old friend
Vincent and share a dream student.
Farewell cheeses and wines, good morning and tandoori chapati. A few years later, Vincent and Sylvain are joined by Paco and JB. Both working on major projects such as Culture Pub in the theater of the Auction, or Reflex culture, on site projects showcases SOHO / SME, they are in the process of shaping their ideas on the subject the Application Blank, open source application embarking all their expertise.
DRY
DRY stands for Do not Repeat Yourself. Do not repeat itself. More than just an acronym, it reflects a genuine way of thinking that promotes simplicity and efficiency. This concept has naturally led to agile methods and languages.
